Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic

sclen-logoThe Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (H.E.A.T.) grant was a program launched in 2009 by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety. Its sole purpose was to reduce fatalities on roadways across the Palmetto State by providing agencies with dedicated funding to support Traffic Enforcement, and resources to educate the motoring public around the dangers of impaired and reckless driving. Vehicles purchased or won through the program had to meet specific criteria. Specifically, these units had to be a certain color, have a lightbar, pushbar, and include all the required SCLEN branding so they would be easily identified as a H.E.A.T. unit. The Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic initiative eventually phased out in 2014 paving the way for what is now known as Target Zero.
