SCPoliceCruisers Takes Over Darlington Raceway
(Darlington, SC) – In true SCPoliceCruisers fashion, we took our recent trip to the Pee Dee portion of the state to the next level by inviting the hottest rides in the Palmetto State to join our photoshoot at the Darlington Raceway. Our vision began with an invitation from the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office to photograph a pair of newly acquired Chevrolet Camaro’s that were just placed into service. These cruisers were added to the fleet as an extension of the agency’s Traffic Enforcement Unit. For anyone familiar with Darlington, you’ll know that this community is synonymous with speed thanks in part to its NASCAR track and the iconic Darlington Dragway.
The last few years have been a renaissance of sorts for coupes in law enforcement. The Chevrolet Camaro and Foxbody Mustang were common sites in the late 80’s and early 90’s until they eventually faded into memory. Like all trends, these muscle cars are making a major comeback not just in South Carolina, but nationally. With the perfect venue secured, we set-off by reaching out to our friends at both Richland County and Sumter County to coordinate an iconic photo of all the marked Sheriff’s Office Chevrolet Camaro’s in the state. As luck would have it, the Darlington Raceway Pace Car was also a Camaro which took the photoshoot up a few notches.
With the Chevrolet Camaro’s locked-in, we began thinking about how we could dial this up to 100. The obvious answer was to invite the rest of South Carolina’s hottest vehicles to participate in our most unique photoshoot to-date. To accomplish this we invited the Duncan Police Department’s BMW 335i, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Volvo S60, Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Ford Mustang GT and we’d be a miss if we didn’t include the South Carolina Highway Patrol’s iconic Silver Bullet. The results were an afternoon that will forever live in the SCP history books. We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our friends that participated in the photoshoot, and a major shoutout to the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office and Darlington Raceway for opening their doors to us and allowing us to make this all happen.
