Darlington County Sheriff’s Office Overhauls Fleet
(Darlington, S.C.) – 12/13/17 – In 2017 almost a third of the counties in the state of South Carolina welcomed new administrations after the recent Sheriff’s election. The Darlington County Sheriff’s Office is one such agency that is undergoing a major transformation under the leadership of newly elect Sheriff Tony Chavis. Sheriff Chavis brings years of experience to the agency through his prior service with the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Together with his handpicked administrative staff, Sheriff Chavis is focusing on strengthening the agency’s image in the community through such initiatives as the newly launched “Special Victims Unit” aimed to help crack down on domestic violence.
Since entering office, Sheriff Chavis has diligently worked with Darlington County Council to approve a request to renew the agency’s fleet and equipment. Through this proposal the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office has received 24 brand new Ford Utility Police Pursuit Vehicles to replace its aging fleet of cruisers, many of which have over 200,000 miles. The agency recently unveiled the new vehicles, which featured a redesigned graphics package with the word “Sheriff” in gold prominently displayed. The new Ford Utility’s were upfit by Dana Safety Supply and feature a full dual color CODE3 lighting package and Setina Pushbar with heavy wraps.
