Chester County Sheriff’s Office Launches Interdiction Unit
(CHESTER, S.C.) – 8/20/16 – The Chester County Sheriff’s Office has recently announced the creation of a dedicated drug interdiction team. The aim of this initiative is to keep narcotics from traveling through the county by using specialized enforcement on I-77 which connects Columbia the state’s capital to Charlotte, North Carolina to deter traffickers.
The newly formed unit which comprises seasoned deputies and a narcotics detection K-9 has spent the last few months training alongside members of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office I.C.E unit on I-85. Through this collaborative effort, deputies from both agencies have been able to share interdiction techniques that not only help them stay safe but also effective in the fight against drug trafficking.
