SCP Visits Indiana State Police
(Sellersburg, IN) – The Indiana State Police is currently in the process of refreshing the agency’s patrol fleet. In the Summer of 2025, this state agency will once again return to its iconic 1960s paint scheme that featured a two tone look of white roofs and blue body panels. In preparation for the rollout, we recently visited with the Indiana State Police Public Information Unit to photograph the soon to be phased out paint scheme.
According to the Indiana State Police, the agency has operated solid colored cruisers since 1966 when then Superintendent Robert O’Neal announced the change. White was selected as the preferred color of choice, and was featured on generations of cruisers for over 30+ years until the agency briefly switched to a black paint scheme in 1998. In 2006, white cruisers made a come back, slowly evolving into the design pictured on this 2023 Dodge Durango. The updated look will rollout on one of the department’s Dodge Durango’s later this summer, with rumors of the agency also using this opportunity to re-introduce the Ford Mustang back into the fleet as well. We sincerely appreciate the Indiana State Police opening their doors to SCPoliceCruisers. Photos from this photoshoot can now be seen in the newly published Indiana portion of the database by clicking here.
