Georgetown Unveils New Design
(Georgetown, S.C.) – For decades, the classic black and white paint scheme has been a symbol of American law enforcement. The iconic look represented a rich tradition of community oriented policing that translated into countless hit TV shows and movies that inspired generations of Americans to pursue a career behind the badge. The design was simple, authoritative, and easily recognizable by the motoring public. Fast forward to 2024, and this nostalgic look is quickly being phased out by agencies across the country. That was until the Georgetown Police Department began the process of rebranding the fleet.
Under the leadership of Chief William Pierce, the Georgetown Police Department has unveiled a modern interpretation on the classic black & white design. Instead of paint, the agency has introduced a partial wrap on its newest units that enhances the overall visibility of cruisers on city roadways. Not only is the new look cost effective, it also includes several features that will be applied to the fleet moving forward. Most noticeably, a hood design that is custom cut to compliment the lines of the vehicle it’s applied to. Larger font spelling out “Georgetown Police” can also be prominently seen on the sides of the vehicle as well as the partial wrap extending onto the front and rear fenders.
The Georgetown Police Department’s redesign isn’t just cosmetic. Changes to its overall equipment package are on the way. Moving forward, all units will feature a full interior 360-degree lighting package eliminating the need to drill extra holes in the vehicles for lightbars. The overall cost savings will help the agency increase the resale value of deadlined units with profits being reinvested into the acquisition of new units. Interior mounted antennas will also be the norm moving forward.

We’d like to extend a very big THANK YOU to the Georgetown Police Department for inviting us out to photograph the new design. To view more pictures of the agency, please click here to visit the Georgetown County portion of the database.
